SEMARANG - The skeleton of the late Iwan Budi Paulus, a civil servant of the Semarang City Government who was found dead on fire in the Marina area of Semarang, Central Java, was finally handed over to his family for burial.

The wife of the deceased, Theresia Onee Anggarawari, received the handover of the body of the Semarang City Regional Revenue Agency employee at the morgue of Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang, Wednesday, September 21.

Onee, who came with his relatives, was then allowed to open the coffin that had been prepared by the hospital staff.

The family then also put a number of items belonging to the deceased in a coffin.

The sister-in-law of the late Iwan Budi, Yosef Prastowo, said that a number of items that were also put in containers included full clothes and deceased shoes.

"The clothes belong to the deceased, Bible and Rosario," said Yosef, quoted from Antara.

The deceased's body was then taken to the funeral home of Elisabeth Hospital Semarang for burial.

The body of the deceased itself is planned to be buried on Thursday (22/9).

Previously, a body was found on fire along with a motorbike in the Marina Beach area, Semarang City, Central Java, on September 8, 2022.

Together with the body and motorbike which are official vehicles belonging to Iwan Budi, a sign of identity was found, as well as a cell phone that allegedly belonged to Iwan Budi Paulus.

Iwan Budi was reported missing the day before being examined as a witness at the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police regarding the alleged corruption in asset certification.

The police have confirmed that the burnt body was Iwan Budi Paulus based on the results of the DNA test.
