JAKARTA - Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport was awarded the best airport in the Asia Pacific region at the 2021 Airport Service Quality Awards, which was held by the Airport Council International (ACI).

Executive General Manager (EGM) of Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport, Siswanto explained, the award was won based on the assessment of airplane passengers.

"The Sultan Thaha Airport in Jambi managed by PT Angkasa Pura II won the Best Airport by Size and Region 2021 (under two million passengers per year)," Siswanto said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 20.

The award completes the same titles that have been won by Sultan Thaha Airport in 2018 and 2020.

He explained that the success of Sultan Thaha Airport in winning three titles as the best in Asia Pacific could not be separated from the new terminal which has been operating since December 27, 2015.

The new terminal has an area of about 12 thousand square meters that can accommodate up to 1.6 million passengers per year.

"In line with this new terminal, airport service and operational standards have also increased," he explained.

With a modern design, classy and still prioritizing local wisdom, the new terminal makes Sultan Thaha Airport an icon of Jambi City and the pride of the community.

Sultan Thaha Airport is equipped with a number of facilities to make travelers comfortable on flights at airports, including fixed bridges for garbarata services, making it easier for passengers to board or get off planes, self-checking engines, commercial areas, comfortable boarding lounges, VIP lounges, and various other facilities.

As for the ASQ Awards, Sultan Thaha Airport also won the Best Hygiene Measures by Region 2021.

The award was given by ACI to every airport that has new procedures and services in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic according to the traveler's wishes to meet their needs, and to ensure the airport environment remains clean and safe in the midst of a pandemic.
