Entrepreneurs Ask Jokowi To Appoint The Acting Governor Of DKI Who Understands Jakarta's Economic Profile

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPD of the Indonesian Pribumi Entrepreneurs Association (HIPPI) DKI Jakarta, Sarman Simanjorang, said that entrepreneurs in the capital city hope that the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta who will be elected by President Joko Widodo will be the person who understands Jakarta's economic profile.

Sarman said that entrepreneurs did not propose the names of the candidates for the acting governor. The important thing, according to him, is that the Acting Governor can manage Jakarta as a city of services, trade, and tourism.

"Most importantly, the Acting Governor can explore Jakarta's economic profile which requires regulations and policies that encourage various business sectors to grow productive," said Sarman in a discussion in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, September 20.

As is known, Jakarta plays an important role because outstanding credit in Jakarta reaches 29 percent of national loans and public savings reaches 49 percent of the total national savings.

Jakarta's gross regional domestic product (GDP) accounts for 17 percent of the National GDP. This makes Jakarta the largest contributor to Indonesia's GDP compared to other provinces.

Jakarta's economic strength is also supported by the household and government consumption sector which makes this sector have a 60 percent role in Jakarta's economic growth.

Thus, Sarman said that Jakarta needs pro-business policies and pro-enterprises. Therefore, Jakarta needs a Acting Governor who knows and understands Jakarta's karateratics so that it is not wrong to make policies, let alone policies that lead to pros and cons.

"Especially in the process of economic recovery in DKI Jakarta, a conducive, safe and calm situation is needed in Jakarta so as not to interfere with the psychology of business actors," said Sarman.

Not to mention, the 2024 election stage is already starting. Sarman hopes that the Acting Governor of DKI will be able to create a cool political atmosphere and not cause a commotion. Thus, various business sectors and services are active as usual.

In the process of screening the candidate for Acting Governor of DKI, on Tuesday, September 13, the DKI DPRD has determined three names. This was obtained from the results of a joint leadership meeting (rapimgab) of nine factions of the DKI DPRD.

The three names of the candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI decided by the DPRD are the Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, the Regional Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Province, Marullah Matali, and the Director General of Polpum, Ministry of Home Affairs, Bahtiar. These three names have been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Kapuspen Kemendagri Benni Irwan said that until now his party had not decided on the three names that would be juxtaposed with the three proposed Pj candidates for the Governor of DKI, before finally being handed over to President Joko Widodo to be elected.

"Until now at the Ministry of Home Affairs, I have not received any information on who is certain. Has anyone entered it. The Ministry of Home Affairs will submit proposals based on input and suggestions from the ministry and institutions, then the Ministry of Home Affairs itself," said Benni on Friday, September 16.
