JAKARTA - Senior economist Faisal Basri highlighted the addition of positive cases of COVID-19 in the country, which had set a record on November 25, which reached 5,345 per day. He considered, this shows that the government is still not serious about dealing with COVID-19.

"The daily cases went down for a while, but they went up again. So this shows how until now the government has not been serious in dealing with COVID-19. It must be admitted," he said, in a virtual discussion, Thursday, November 26.

According to Faisal, what is also dangerous is that active cases in Indonesia have risen again to almost the same level as last October, before the long holiday. This virus has spread to all provinces in Indonesia. In fact, 98.2 percent of regencies / cities have been infected and only 9 percent have not.

"So again, we are not at the peak of wave I. This is only a brief decline, but then it has risen again. We hope it will not be like Iran, which has experienced three waves," he said.

Faisal admitted that he had observed the data on the addition of positive cases. He said, the addition of cases that initially took 116 days to reach 50,000, now the time has been shorter to 12 days and has improved again in the range of 15 days. However, lastly it only took 11 days to reach 500 thousand from 450 thousand.

"So the condition worsens. How do we predict the economy, if the condition is like this. The key is in COVID-19, no doubt," he said.

For your information, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of November 25. A total of 45,330 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 5,534 new positive cases of COVID-19.

The number of new cases today reached a new record. Previously, the record for new cases occurred on November 13 with an increase of 5,444 cases.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 511,836 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Wednesday, November 25.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,273 new cases and a total of 130,461 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.
