JAKARTA - Police arrested a man suspected of killing his female co-worker, who reported him in a stalking case, in a subway station toilet.

A Seoul Metro employee, surnamed Jeon (31), allegedly stabbed a victim in his 20s to death in a women's toilet at Sindang Station on Line No. 2, Seoul, South Korea on Wednesday night.

He was arrested at the scene by other subway workers and ordinary residents, then handed over to the police around 9 p.m. local time.

The stabbing victim had asked for help, by pressing the emergency bell in the bathroom. He was rushed to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest, declared dead 2 1/2 hours later.

Police said the suspect, wearing a disposable hair covering, was lurking at the station for about 70 minutes before seeing, following and killing the victim.

Jeon told the police she had been planning a crime for a long time and had previously obtained a weapon.

The murder occurred one day before the court ruled to punish him on charges of stalking the victim.

Previously, it was known that the victim had filed two complaints against him. Jeon was later charged in February and July.

Furthermore, Jeon and the victim are said to have known each other, since they entered Seoul Metro the same year.

Meanwhile, officials said Jeon had previously been relieved of duty, after illegally recording women.

Police plan to apply for an official arrest warrant for him in the future, officials added.
