JAKARTA - Russian and Chinese warships have sailed for joint patrols in the Pacific region, the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.
"As part of implementing international military cooperation programs, Russian Navy warships and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy carry out joint patrols in the Pacific Ocean," the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the ships will train joint tactical maneuvering skills, communication organizations, practical artillery shootings and ship-based helicopter flights.
"The task of a patrol mission is to strengthen naval cooperation between Russia and China, maintain peace and stability in the Asia Pacific region, monitor marine waters, and protect facilities for Russia and China's maritime economic activities," the ministry said.
Previously, Chinese and Russian warships had carried out joint patrols in the Pacific Ocean, in October 2021 to be exact.
