Ridwan Kamil Asks Scouts To Help Handling Disasters In West Java

BANDUNG - The Governor of West Java who is also the Chairman of the Regional Advisory Council (Mabida) of the West Java Scout Movement, Ridwan Kamil asked all local scout members to take part in handling natural disasters in the region.

"It is currently the rainy season and often triggers hydrological disasters in West Java. Yes, where there was a reward field there was a scouting movement. Anything including disaster," he said after attending the 61st Scout Day Commemoration event at the Sate Bandung building as reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 14th.

Ridwan Kamil said West Java Province has so far been one of the areas with the highest number of disasters in Indonesia. Every year, about 2,000 disasters occur during the rainy season.

"Indeed, this is the season for a year, there are approximately 2,000 disasters, BPBDs throughout West Java are on alert. For example, there are landslides, there are deaths, mitigation has been handled in the field. Mitigation is also being carried out. ," he said.

Kang Emil considered the existence of scouts to be important in the midst of onslaught, shocks, and so many circumstances of temptation through technology that affects every aspect of human life.

Therefore, said Ridwan Kamil, the Scout Movement has become an "oasis" that this country still has a place for generations to live useful lives.

"The Scout Movement is relevant, whether creative economy issues, food crises, global warming, and others must be responded to by scouts. Even in West Java, it has proven to be the most adaptive, one of which is scouts in West Java who have Super Apps or applications," he said.

Kang Emil said the Scout Application accommodates various kinds of activities, ranging from social activities to scouting activities so that scouts are always present in the community.

"Hopefully the scouts will become a stronghold for a tough generation that will endure in the future. This is an investment because without the scouting movement there is no fortress to make the younger generation love their country, care for others, work ethic and discipline," said Ridwan Kamil.
