JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) continues to strengthen the cyber security system to prevent important data leakage related to general elections (elections).

"So, all the applications used for the implementation of the election stage, we will upgrade the technology, including security," said KPU member Idham Holik in Jakarta, Monday, September 12.

Idham said the KPU appreciated the data security attention submitted by Commission II of the DPR RI in a hearing. This, according to him, is a form of high attention to data security, especially related to elections.

"And of course we as election organizers have anticipated it, because in the development of information technology, the potential for system security disruption from an information system must be anticipated. The approach is not a reactive approach, but a mitigative approach," he explained, quoted from Antara.

Previously, the Indonesian KPU ensured that the institution's official website and electronic applications were safe from cyber data leakage.

"Is this the question whether the KPU website and application are leaking or not? Yes, we will make sure it is safe," said Idham.

The KPU has also held a meeting with the KPU's Cyber Security Task Force related to cybersecurity and electronic data belonging to the election management agency.

"In the meeting, no one stated that the findings that the KPU website or application experienced data leakage. Regarding the registration process for political parties, this Sipol application is in a safe condition," he said.

Furthermore, regarding voter data, Idham said the data is currently in the updating stage and has been spread in various regions. In order to ensure the safety of the data, the KPU has asked its staff in the regions to be careful and prioritize security in various stages of the election.
