OTT Minister Edhy Prabowo, KPK Team Also Moved To A Number Of Locations

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigation team is not only moving to arrest the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Tangerang.

Acting KPK spokesman for prosecution Ali Fikri said the team also moved to other locations at midnight.

"Wednesday, November 25, 2020, the KPK secured a number of parties in several locations including Jakarta and Depok, West Java, including at Soekarno-Hatta Airport around 00.30 WIB," Ali said in a written statement to journalists, Wednesday, November 25.

This team arrested 17 people, including the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Edhy Prabowo, for alleged corruption in the determination of a prospective exporter of lobster fries or seeds. Apart from Edhy, a number of parties who were also arrested were his wife, Iis Rosita Dewi.

In addition, a number of elements who were also arrested in the incident were officials at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).

"Apart from that, there are also some private parties," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the current condition, Edhy Prabowo is still undergoing intensive examination at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office. The KPK will determine the status of dozens of people who have been arrested, including Edhy Prabowo.

Regarding the hand-catching operation (OTT) of Minister Edhy Prabowo, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that he respects the ongoing legal process. Jokowi does not want the government to intervene in Edhy's investigation regarding the alleged corruption in the lobster seed export.

"Of course, we respect the legal process that is currently underway at the KPK. We respect it," said Jokowi in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, November 25.

Jokowi then emphasized that the KPK was working professionally.

"I believe that the KPK works transparently, openly, professionally. The government consistently supports efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption," he said.
