SMRC Survey: The Majority Of Anies Supporters, Prabowo, And Ganjar It Turned Out That They Did Not Know About Fuel So Far, Subsidized Fuel

JAKARTA - The SMRC survey institute released the results of a poll on the issue of subsidized fuel, which is currently experiencing an increase in prices from supporters of several figures discussed to run as presidential candidates, namely Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto, and Ganjar Pranowo.

The founder of SMRC Saiful Mujani stated that it turned out that the supporters of the figures who were predicted to compete in the 2024 presidential election did not know that so far the fuel oil (BBM) had been subsidized.

The results of the survey, from Anies Baswedan supporters, as many as 68 percent admitted that they did not know that fuel was subsidized and 32 percent claimed to know. Then, from supporters of Prabowo Subianto, 61 percent admitted that they did not know and 39 percent said they knew.

Then, from supporters of Ganjar Pranowo, 69 percent admitted that they did not know that fuel was subsidized and 31 percent admitted that they knew that all this time fuel had been subsidized.

"So, the majority of supporters of these presidential candidates do not know that fuel is subsidized," Saiful said on SMRC TV's YouTube show, quoted on Sunday, September 11.

In addition, SMRC also dissects the issue of fuel subsidized from the voter segment of political parties.

As a result, respondents who did not know that fuel was subsidized to PKB voters were 58 percent, Democrats 59 percent, PKS 63 percent, PDIP 63 percent, PAN 66 percent, Gerindra, 71 percent, Golkar 72 percent, PPP 79 percent, and Nasdem 50 percent.

"Actually, it is quite evenly distributed that the majority of residents do not know that fuel is subsidized. Except for Nasdem voters, people who know and don't know that fuel is subsidized are balanced," said Saiful.

SMRC conducted this survey face-to-face on 5-13 August 2022 and was attended by 1,220 randomly selected respondents or stratified multistage random sampling.

The survey rate response reached 86 percent. Next, the survey margin of error with a sample size is estimated at more than 3.1 percent at a 95 percent confidence level from the assumption of a simple random sampling.
