This Mud Red Berlian Without Defected Targeted Rp311 Million, One Mining Owned By Queen Elizabeth

JAKARTA - An enchanting pink diamond, described as one of the purest in the world, sold for more than $21 million when auctioned in Hong Kong in October, the auction house Sotheby's said.

Weighing 11.15 carats, this pillow-shaped gem is called the 'Williamson Pink Star', as a tribute to two other pink diamonds.

One of them is the "CTF Pink Star", a diamond with an oval cut weighing 59.60 carat which sold for a record USD 71.2 million in auctions in 2017.

Another is the 'Williamson' stone, the 23.60 carat-weight diamond given to Queen Elizabeth England as a wedding gift by Canadian geologist John Thorburn Williamson.

"You then add extra factors like more than 10 carats, with no internal defects and Types IIA, and you immediately peak it," he added, referring to the chemically purest diamond subgroup.

The best quality colored gemstone is expected to receive many offers, when offered for sale in self-duction on October 5.

"We see during the lockdown crisis and COVID-19, there is always a demand for the rare and beautiful in the world, and this is something very rare that I think will have many bidders on that day."

Before being auctioned off next October, 'Williamson Pink Star' will tour Dubai, Singapore, and Taipei before arriving in Hong Kong.
