PANGKALPINANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province noted that as many as 15 urban villages in Pangkalpinang City were flooded due to heavy rains accompanied by high tides. "Currently we are still collecting data on these flooded houses," said Head of BPBD for the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Mikron Antariksa in Pangkalpinang, Antara, Friday, September 9. Heavy rain accompanied by high tides from 13.45 WIB to late afternoon caused houses in 15 sub-districts to be flooded with water levels of about 30 to 50 centimeters. "These houses that were flooded are indeed in flood disaster routine areas or places in the event of heavy rain accompanied by high tides," he said. According to him, severe flooding occurred in several urban villages, such as Jalan Jumat Yahya Bukit Sari, Jalan Kayu Putih, Kacang Serang Village, Teressia Street Kampung Bintang and Jalan Balai Kelurahan Pelipur, Pangkalpinang City. "Currently the joint team is spreading aid to these flooded houses," he said. He said this flood occurred apart from heavy rains and high tides were also caused by waterways or drainage that were clogged with garbage, so the water overflowed into residential areas. "Currently we have not received any reports of casualties or injuries due to this natural disaster," he said.
