YOGYAKARTA Suharso Monoarfa was dismissed from the position of General Chair of the United Development Party (PPP). This then reaps the spotlight from various parties, including PPP's own body.

As is known, Suharso's dismissal was carried out through the deliberation of the Sharia Council, the Honorary Council and the Advisory Council. Deputy Secretary of the PPP DPP Advisory Council Usman M Tokan said that the dismissal was carried out by sending a third letter.

"Which they are voters and sympathizers of PPP or can be said that people who love and care about the existence and dignity of the United Development Party as a forum for the political struggle of the Indonesian Muslims, so that on August 30, 2022, with a heavy heart the leadership of the 3 Councils, which are the DPP High Council, finally sent a third letter, which on the basis of their authority issued the Fatwa of the Assembly, namely dismissing Brother Suharso Monoarfa from the position of General Chairperson of the PPP DPP since the letter was signed," said Usman in a press statement, Monday, September 5.

The question then became the reason behind Suharso's dismissal, causing various speculations.

Until now, the reason behind Suharso's dismissal was not clearly stated by the PPP. In fact, PPP Deputy Chairperson Arsul Sani denied the dismissal of Suharso. He explained that Muhammad Mardiono's replacement as Acting Ketum was carried out through Mukernas in Banten.

"This means that Suharso Monoarfa was fired or dismissed, the answer was no," explained Arsul at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 5.

Regarding the reason for Suharso's dismissal, Arsul suspects that the cadres want the party to run optimally. The reason is, the regional leadership feels that the PPP survey does not show an increase even though consolidation work continues.

"Well, this is because the closer the election day, the steps must be taken, reorganized, reallocation of functions or party positions as well as party cadres who serve externally," said Arsul Sani.

Not only that, Arsul also claimed that Suharso had planned to resign. Even the plan was said a few days before the National Working Meeting for the inauguration of Mardiono as the Acting Ketum was held. The resignation plan was also conveyed to Mardiono, who served as Chair of the PPP Advisory Council. In addition, Suharso also communicated with the former chairman of PPP, Romahurmuziy.

"The communication has been for days. From what was conveyed by Mr. Mardiono and also happened to have the opportunity to communicate with Mr. Romy, the former chairman. He had time to convey his desire to resign," explained Arsul to reporters at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 5.

Suharso Monoarfa is a politician and entrepreneur. He was born on October 31, 1954 in Gorontalo. Suharso's appointment as General Chair of PPP replaced Romahurmuziy. He was elected by acclamation at the IX PPP Congress as General Chair on December 19, 2020.

During his career, Suharso managed to achieve several achievements. In fact, he was appointed by President Jokowi to sit on the seat of the Minister of National Development Planning as well as the Head of the National Development Planning Agency. The position was given to Suharso since 2019.

In the era of President SBY, Suharso has also served as Minister of Public Housing in the United Indonesia Cabinet II since October 22, 2009. He then chose to resign on October 17, 2011.

Behind this achievement, Suharso has assets of Rp99,966,251,075. However, according to the state administrator's wealth report (LHKPN) which he reported to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Suharso was recorded to have a debt of Rp26,901,999,595, so that his assets were reduced to Rp73,064,251,480.
