Taking A Peek At Airlangga Hartarto's Opportunities For Winning The 2024 Presidential Election After Puan Maharani Meets Prabowo Subianto

JAKARTA - Pengamat politik Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) Andi Ali Armunanto menilai Ketua Umum Partai Golkar Airlangga Hartarto masih memiliki peluang besar untuk memenangi Pilpres 2024.

Menurutnya, nama Airlangga masih terbuka memenangi pilpres meskipun muncul nama Ketua DPP PDIP Puan Maharani maupun Ketum Gerindra Prabowo Subianto sebagai calon capres.

"Although there is Puan Maharani (PDIP), Prabowo Subianto (Gerindra), Airlangga's chances are very large in winning the 2024 presidential election," he said in a statement, Sunday (4/9/2022).

It is known that Puan and Prabowo met in Hambalang, West Java, on Sunday (4/9/2022). This meeting became Puan's second political safari after previously meeting the Ketum Nasdem Surya Paloh.

Andi said that both Puan, Prabowo, and Airlangga already had tickets to the 2024 presidential election. Airlangga already has political power through the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) which was built with PAN and PPP. KIB itself has met the requirements for the 2024 presidential and vice presidential nomination threshold.

In addition to KIB, Airlangga is also considered to have a large capital in winning the presidential election because of his performance as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.

"If there is a survey that prioritizes Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential candidate in 2024, because of political support from KIB and as Coordinating Minister for the Economy," said Andi.

Andi suggested that Airlangga build a political branding to be stronger as a presidential candidate in 2024. In addition, according to Andi, Airlangga must also prove his political performance so that the public understands the figure of the General Chairperson of Golkar.

"Pak Airlangga must build a political branding to get the full support of the people in the 2024 presidential election," he explained.

Meanwhile, political observer who is also a lecturer in the Communication Studies Program of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University (Unpad), Kunto Adi Wibowo also assesses that Airlangga already has a chance to win the 2024 presidential election. According to him, Airlangga already has the capital of political vehicles through the Golkar Party and KIB.

"Mr. Airlangga's political capital already exists through the Golkar Party and KIB, that's enough to run as a presidential candidate for 2024," he said.

He suggested that Airlangga Hartarto need to show the public more as a candidate to replace Jokowi in the 2024 presidential election.
