It's Been A Crime Scene, Senen Resulting In A Fire At Senen Market

JAKARTA - The Senen Police Criminal Investigation Unit is still investigating the cause of the fire at the kiosk selling bags in Block 6, 3rd Floor Pasar Senen, Senen District, Central Jakarta.

"It is handled by us (Senen Police), the crime scene has been processed," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Senen Police AKP Danang when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, September 4.

Several pieces of evidence are still being investigated to determine the exact cause of the fire that hit the temporary shelters of the bag traders in the Senen market area.

Previously, it was reported that three kiosks in Block 6, 3rd Floor Pasar Senen, Senen District, Central Jakarta caught fire. The fire is thought to have been caused by an electrical short on Thursday, September 1, evening.

"Yes, it is suspected that we had an electrical short in one of the Senen Market kiosks," said Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., Asril Rizal when contacted by VOI, Friday, September 2.

Asril further said that his party had experienced problems in extinguishing the fire. The reason is, the kiosk door is locked so it must be opened forcibly and the smoke is quite thick.

"It is estimated that the loss reached Rp. 600 million with an area burned at 36 meters. Three stalls were burned," he said.

Asril said that previously the security forces had tried to extinguish the fire with APAR. However, the kiosk at Senen Market which contained the bag continued to grow.
