JAKARTA - The panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced six defendants to the beating of Ade Armando. "The assembly decided to impose a criminal sentence on each defendant in prison for 8 months," said Chief Justice Dewa Ketut Kartana when reading the verdict at the Central Jakarta District Court, Antara, Thursday, September 1. The judge's decision was lower than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) who previously demanded that the six defendants be sentenced to two years in prison. The judge also explained that all defendants violated several points and were charged by the prosecutor in Article 170 Paragraph (2) of the 1st Criminal Code as the primary indictment and Article 170 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the subsidiary's indictment. In his decision, the judge considered things that made it easier and more difficult. The thing that made it difficult was the actions of the defendants causing feelings of insecurity, comfort, and disturbing public order. Meanwhile, what relieves the defendant is admitting his guilt, and some of them have family responsibilities. Previously, six defendants in the beating of Ade Armando named Marcos Iswan, Komar, Abdul Latif, Al Fikri Hidayatullah, Dhia Ul Haq, and Muhammad Bagja were sentenced to two years in prison for being proven to have beaten Ade Armando. They were sentenced to two years after the Public Prosecutor (JPU) previously presented various witnesses and evidence that weighed on the defendant in court. After being sued for two years, the defendants then submitted a plea at the next trial which was held on Monday, August 30. In his funeral, the majority of the defendants admitted their actions in front of the judges. They also ask for leniency in punishment because they have to return home to support their families.
