Jokowi's Election For Regional Head Election 2 Weeks Again: Upholding Prokes Discipline Rules

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo asked the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 as well as the governors to prevent activities from violating health protocols during the pandemic.

He said this in the opening of a limited meeting regarding the performance report of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and the National Economic Advisor at the State Palace.

"Preventive measures and interventions on potential activities that violate protocol must be carried out with firmness, take precautionary measures as early as possible," Jokowi said in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube broadcast, Monday, November 23.

In addition, Jokowi also asked his staff to pay special attention to the 2020 Pilkada Simultaneous stages during the pandemic.

He asked for a voting process that would take place in about 2 weeks, as well as campaign activities that had the potential to control crowds so as not to interfere with the handling of COVID-19.

"Enforce the rules, continue to discipline health protocols must be carried out strictly, especially later on election day, and of course during the last campaign campaign," said Jokowi.

Furthermore, Jokowi assessed that currently the handling of COVID-19 and the recovery of the economy affected by the pandemic has gradually been good.

Jokowi said, data on the development of COVID-19 as of November 22 showed that the average active case of COVID-19 in Indonesia was 12.78 percent. This figure is lower than the world average of 28.41 percent.

In addition, the average rate of recovery for COVID-19 has also improved, with the current achievement of 84.03 percent. This is also better than the world recovery rate which reached 69.20 percent.

Regarding the economic recovery, Jokowi said that the trend of economic conditions in the second quarter was minus 5.32. Then, the economy started to improve in the third quarter with minus 3.49.

"With such an achievement, I ask the Committee, Task Force and governors to remain vigilant on the brake and gas strategy, it is really regulated. Do not let it loose and also pose risks, giving rise to this second wave, which can make us retreat again , "he explained.
