DKI Deputy Governor Riza Patria Promises To Fulfill Police Calls Regarding The Rizieq Crowd

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria will cooperate and fulfill the summons of Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, November 23. Riza Patria will be asked for clarification regarding the alleged violation of the COVID-19 prevention health protocol during the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the Chair of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab and the commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in Petamburan, Jakarta.

Riza Patria will visit Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters on Monday 23 November. Previously, Riza was summoned by Polda Metro Jaya on Thursday, November 22. However, Riza was unable to attend by reason of attending a number of other activities.

"God willing, Monday I will receive a call for clarification regarding the problem in Petamburan," he said, in Jakarta, Sunday, November 22.

Riza admitted that he would be present at 11.00 WIB. He made sure he would provide information according to the facts.

"I will provide information on data and facts as they are, not reduced, exaggerated. We provide a good opportunity for Polda to dig up the information we can provide," he said.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had investigated the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, in a case of alleged violation of health protocols in Petamburan. Anies was examined on Tuesday, November 17.

After examining Anies, the police then scheduled an examination of Riza Patria regarding the crowd at the wedding of Rizieq Shihab's daughter as well as the commemoration of the Prophet's birthday.

During examination or clarification, witnesses from government elements are asked to explain the status and legal basis in DKI Jakarta during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it is also regarding anticipatory steps that have been taken regarding suspected violations of health protocols.

"What is being explored is in accordance with the law to be implemented, namely the canteen law. If from the government element, what is the status of Jakarta as the legal basis, what kind of efforts have been made and are linked to the activities that have occurred in Petamburan," said the Head of the Public Information Bureau.
