In Front Of Judge Bagja Defense, Claiming Only To Pull Ade Armando's T-shirt

JAKARTA - One of the defendants in the case of beating Ade Armando, Muhammad Bagja, admitted that he only pulled the victim's shirt.

"At that time, the defendant pulled the victim's T-shirt and was spontaneously provoked and did not physically injure it," said Muhammad Bagja's attorney, Anjas Asmara, while reading the defense in the courtroom, Monday, August 29.

According to Anjas, at that time Bagja only wanted to participate in the April 11, 2022 demonstration in front of the DRP/MPR RI building, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta.

During the demonstration, Bagja was consumed by mass provocations so that he finally withdrew Ade Armando's shirt which was also in the midst of a demonstration.

After withdrawing Ade Armando's shirt, the defendant did not carry out the beating as demanded by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) in the previous trial of readers of the lawsuit, Anjas said.

"The demand is excessive, whether it should be equated with other defendants because the defendant has confessed to the act," said Anjas.

In addition, in the pledoi trial, it was also explained that Bagja was still a student and became the backbone of the family by working as an online motorcycle taxi driver.

Therefore, Anjas hopes that clients can be released from the prosecutor's demands so that they can resume education and work as the backbone of the family.

Previously, six defendants in the beating of Ade Armando named Marcos Iswan, Komar, Abdul Latif, Al Fikri Hidayatullah, Dhia Ul Haq, and Muhammad Bagja were sentenced to two years in prison for being proven to be involved in beatings.

They were sentenced to two years in accordance with the provisions of Article 170 of the Criminal Code after previously the Public Prosecutor presented various witnesses and evidence that weighed on the defendants in the trial.
