Bogor City Government Decides To Reopen Schools Starting January 11, 2021

JAKARTA - The Bogor City Government plans face-to-face learning (PTM) in schools for students in the second semester of the 2020/2021 school year. It is planned that schools in Bogor will resume opening on January 11, 2021.

"We just finished the meeting, discussing the direction from the Minister of Education and Culture (Minister of Education and Culture) regarding the plan to organize PTM in schools," said Bogor Mayor Bima Arya, Saturday, November 21.

The meeting was attended by, among others, the Head of the Bogor City Education Office, the Head of the Bogor City Health Office, a Representative from the Private College Deliberative Body (BMPS), a West Java Provincial Education Office Branch Office (KCD) Representative, the Head of the Bogor City Ministry of Religion Office, and a City Transportation Service Representative. According to Bima Arya, the implementation of PTM in schools must be accompanied by strict application of health protocols, because safety and health are the main things. Implementation of PTM, he said, the pattern is a combination of distance learning (PJJ) followed by students from home.

"The pattern is half-and-half between PTM and PJJ. Students who study face-to-face at school, the number is limited to only 30-50 percent," he said.

Bima emphasized that this PTM could be implemented after obtaining permission from the Bogor City Government as well as permission from the school committee, school principal, and parents. "If there is one party who does not allow it, PTM cannot be implemented," he said.

Bima added that if all parties have given permission, but there are one or two parents who do not allow their children to take part in PTM, then the student may not participate in PTM. "These students only follow PJJ and schools should not impose sanctions," he said.

Bima also reminded that schools that would implement PTM would have to undergo a swab test beforehand and make sure the results were negative.

"Schools wishing to implement PTM should submit an application to the Bogor City Government. The application has been completed with permission and approval from the school committee and the parents of students," he said.

Bima Arya also asked the Bogor City Education Office to socialize the PTM rules to schools in Bogor City.
