Kenpark Surabaya Owner Is Ready To Take Responsibility For The Collapse Of The Water Slide: I Will Definitely Come With A Lawyer

SURABAYA - The owner of Kenjeran Park (Kenpark) Surabaya, Soetiadji Yudho, has not responded to the summons of the Tanjung Perak Surabaya Police investigators. The suspect in the collapse of the water slide at Kenpark is ready to take responsibility for the incident on Saturday, 7 May.

"I will definitely come later, I will be responsible. I will later bring a lawyer to accompany me," said Soetiadji, confirmed, Thursday, August 25

Soetiadji admitted that he was confused by the determination of the suspect by the police. The reason is, he admitted that he had not taken care of Kenpark's operations for more than 10 years.

"That's why I'm surprised that it's linked to PT (PT Bangun Citra Wisata). Even though I haven't taken part in the operations of (Kenpark) for more than 10 years," he said.

Soetiadji claims that his party is also a consumer of the Canadian company Whitewater Slide. Therefore, he insists that he did not participate in making the item and only uses it.

"I am a consumer, a consumer of a factory (slide) that makes it from Canada. So it's not me who makes it, it's a factory, I am the user," he said.

Asked about the treatment, Soetiadji said that his party only painted the outside. The reason is that the slide is not an electronic item so no repairs are made inside.

"Last year's maintenance was only a layer of painting on the outside. We can't change the inside, it's already dead, what do you want to fix? Yes, you can't," he said.

Previously, the Operations Manager with the initials SB, the General Manager with the initials PS, and the owner of Kenjeran Park with the initials ST were named suspects. They are responsible for the accident that the sledding vehicle at Kenpark Surabaya collapsed on 7 May.

For their actions, the three suspects were charged with Article 8 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection and/or Article 360 of the Criminal Code.
