JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian evaluates the performance of acting regional heads throughout Indonesia. Tito wanted to know how far the performance of the officials in developing the region.

"The term of office for regional heads is a maximum of one year and can be extended or not, depending on the evaluation from the Ministry of Home Affairs," said Tito Karnavian when opening the socialization of the Assessment to Acting. Tito said, this year as many as 101 regional heads will end their leadership period and the rest in 2023. The temporary regional head seats are filled by pj. regional heads until the results of the simultaneous regional head elections (pilkada) on November 27, 2024.

"All acting regional heads who have been inaugurated must understand their duties and authorities," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

He emphasized that all pj. governor to submit an accountability report to the President of the Republic of Indonesia through the Minister of Home Affairs, at least once every 3 months.

Meanwhile, for pj. the regent/mayor, submits his report to the Minister of Home Affairs through the governor. This report will be used as evaluation material.

As for the points of the assessment, namely leadership in the implementation of government affairs under regional authority (mainly aspects of health, education, infrastructure, and the implementation of public services), the obligation to carry out guidance and supervision of regional apparatus, uphold and practice Pancasila, implement the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and maintain and maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition, he continued, maintaining personal ethics and norms in the implementation of government affairs that are the authority of the region, as well as establishing working relationships with forkopimda and all vertical agencies in the region.

Acting regional heads also carry out other authorities in accordance with statutory provisions. It contains several points, such as compliance with the central government, simplification of the organizational structure, budget allocation for the 2024 General Election, the establishment and effectiveness of the implementation of the food and TPID task force, structuring honorary staff, and maintaining a conducive climate and ASN neutrality.

In addition to the duties and authorities, said Tito, there are also restrictions on the authority of the pj. This regional head, among others, conducts employee transfers, cancels permits that have been issued by previous officials, makes policies on regional expansion, and makes policies that are contrary to the policies of administration and development programs of previous officials.
