East Kalimantan Provincial Government Waits For Intensive Funds For Reducing Carbon Emissions

SAMARINDA - The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan is awaiting the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) Carbon Fund's carbon emission reduction incentive fund, which has not yet been received.

"Hopefully, this year, East Kalimantan will receive an incentive to reduce carbon emissions for the first period," said Acting Assistant II of the East Kalimantan Regional Secretariat, HM Aswin representing the East Kalimantan Provincial Secretary when receiving an audience with the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 24.

Aswin hopes that the presence of KSP can bring a message to related parties such as the ministry of forestry and the environment.

"The Governor, the Deputy Governor and the Regional Secretary pray that these funds will be quickly disbursed to support sustainable development," said Aswin.

Aswin explained that the FCPF-CF program in East Kalimantan lasted from June 2019 to December 2024 which was divided into three periods.

He explained that the total emission reduction target is 22 million CO2 equivalent, with incentives to be paid of 110 million US dollars or around Rp. 1.63 trillion.

"Currently we are in the stage of submitting a report for the first period," said Aswin.

Furthermore, verification will be carried out by an independent institution appointed by the World Bank.

On the other hand, Aswin, who is also the Head of Bappeda Kaltim, said that in realizing sustainable development, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government builds collaborations with various parties, both development partners, universities and the private sector.

"The East Kalimantan Provincial Government is very open to all parties who want to contribute to realizing green development," he said.
