PNS Perpetrators Of Child Abuse In Sabang Aceh Arrested, Threatened With Criminal And Caning Qanun Including Fines Of 450 Grams Of Gold

BANDA ACEH - Sabang City Police, Aceh, arrested a man with the initials YO (56) who is suspected of sexually abusing a child and sexually harassing four teenagers in the westernmost region of Indonesia.

Sabang Police Chief AKBP Muhammadun said the case of sexual abuse by a minor and sexual harassment by suspect YO was revealed after receiving a report from the victim's parents.

"Based on the report, we investigated and arrested the suspect," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 24.

The perpetrator is registered as a civil servant (PNS) at one of the agencies in Sabang. The victims' initials were PM (21), DWS (23), DA (22), IA (21) and minors MDA (16).

The head of the Satreskrim Polres Sabang AKP Bukhari explained that the case began when suspect YO opened tutoring for Sabang residents who wanted to take the test to become a civil servant, specifically the Women's Army Corps (Kowad).

However, during the tutoring process, the suspect did not provide proper teaching materials, instead he abused and molested the victims.

According to = Bukhari, the actions taken by the suspect YO are criminal acts of sexual abuse of minors and violate the Child Protection Act.

"Because Islamic law applies in Aceh, the suspect is also subject to a criminal act of sexual harassment as referred to in Article 47 of Aceh Qanun number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law," he said.

The suspect is threatened with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 5 billion in accordance with Article 82 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

Then, it is added to Article 47 of the Qanun on jinayat law, which threatens to be punished with a maximum of 45 lashes and a fine of 450 grams of pure gold or a maximum imprisonment of 45 months.
