2 Illegal Logging Perpetrators Arrested, Dompu Police Investigate Possible Network

NTB - The Dompu Resort Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Polres) has uncovered a case of alleged illegal timber sales or illegal logging that occurred in the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) area.

"The perpetrators who were detained had the initials AH (42) as the driver and MF (22) as the passenger," said Dompu Police Chief AKBP Iwan Hidayat in a written statement in Mataram, NTB, Tuesday, August 23.

The perpetrators were arrested, he said, for transporting, controlling and possessing forest products without official documents on Tuesday, August 23, at 00.30 WITA.

They were arrested based on reports from the community that in Saneo Village, Woja District, or in the protected forest area illegal logging activities were taking place.

Obtaining the report, members conduct an investigation. When moving to the crime scene or crime scene, the police arrested two people who were the driver and the assistant who was loading logs from illegal logging.

"The perpetrators and evidence were brought by the Dompu Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings," he said.

Iwan said the Dompu Police would develop the two perpetrators who had been arrested. The effort was made to explore whether there was a network in illegal logging in Saneo Village.

To the public, Iwan appealed to continue to support the police in preventing cases of illegal logging to protect the environment.

"We hope that residents will report to the authorities if they see the same case happening. We will continue to develop this case to uncover other networks of perpetrators," he said.
