JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin supports National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo's move to take firm action against "online" gambling.

"I think it is true, it must be done immediately. The problem of 'online' gambling has spread everywhere and there are many victims and it turns out that there are many bookies in various countries but the tail is here (Indonesia)," said Vice President Ma' ruf Amin in Jakarta reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 22

Previously, on August 19, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo asked his staff to eradicate gambling crimes, both land and online gambling.

"So this must be eradicated completely. I support the steps taken by the Police to be quickly eradicated," said Ma'ruf.

Ma'ruf also supports the steps taken by the National Police Chief to carry out a clean-up within the National Police.

"I think there must be more decisive steps in the context of internal cleansing, and other eradication systems, such as 'online' gambling and so on. With such steps, I think the Police's reputation will return later," said Ma' ruf.

General Sigit in his statement said that he would not tolerate any police officers involved in the crime.

"I don't tolerate it if it's still there and found, I removed the official, I don't care if it's the police chief, whether it's the director, whether it's the regional police chief.

In his briefing, General Sigit asked all ranks to have a consistent and consistent commitment related to eradicating all forms of crime that disturbs the community.

According to him, this was done in order to maintain the dignity of the Polri institution to become better and to regain public trust in the future.
