NasDem Considers Anies Baswedan-Puan Maharani Duet In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party, Ahmad Ali, said that his party has the opportunity to pair the chairman of the DPP PDIP who is also the chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, with the presidential candidate from their National Working Meeting.

Of the three names, namely the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, Anies has the greatest chance of being paired with Puan.

"Yesterday, I nominated one of the PDIP cadres, Ganjar. There could be cooperation there. It could also be something else, it could be Anies and Puan, Puan and Anies could also be with others," Ali told reporters. at NasDem Tower, Gondangdia, Jakarta, Monday, August 22.

Even so, this duet has not been discussed today, Monday, August 22 or during the meeting between NasDem and PDIP. Ali said this was because his party felt the need to open further communication with the party created by Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Moreover, until now NasDem does not know who the PDIP will carry in the upcoming 2024 presidential election because it is waiting for Megawati's decision.

"We don't know the PDIP's policy yet because of the general chairman's direction," said Ali.

As previously reported, the General Chair of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, said that he and Puan Maharani had something in common. This was conveyed after holding a closed meeting for two hours.

"Me and Mbak Puan had a common thought and conclusion in this meeting as an initial meeting which we hope to follow up in the next meeting which is not limited to this year," Paloh said in a press conference after a closed meeting, Monday, August 22.

Paloh hopes that the NasDem Party and PDIP can work together in many ways. Moreover, the meeting between the two parties went smoothly and nothing was hidden.

"This visit is a visit to friendship but is not limited to just talking about things in the current atmosphere but also regarding the wider benefit," he said.

"And this is very, very grateful for us with a sense of joy, the atmosphere of the meeting is full of openness, nothing is hidden from each other, even we can give each other views, all corrections are intended to strengthen the synergy that has occurred," continued Surya Paloh.
