JAKARTA - Clashes between groups of students, thugs and residents occurred in a private campus area, Jalan Pemuda 1, Rawamangun, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, Saturday, August 20, afternoon.

A number of students were injured and motorbikes were damaged as a result of the brawl incident. The commotion between these groups occurred in the campus area.

However, because of urgency, the students involved in the brawl eventually fled to the residential area.

Then, the residents were annoyed and helped the students again carry out attacks against thugs in the campus area.

Members of the Pulogadung Police and the East Jakarta Metro Police who arrived at the location immediately dispersed the mass clash. The brawl can be muted after the joint officers secure the location from the thugs who control the campus area.

Head of RT 07/02, Agus said, the brawl problem occurred allegedly triggered by internal campus parties. Then the students involved in the brawl fled towards the residential area so that they were chased again.

"It is said from the students' side, there are indications of thuggery (inside the campus). We are looking for security solutions," Agus told reporters.

The group of students who were involved in the brawl had an argument with local residents because at the same time they were carrying out activities for the 17 August Independence Anniversary competition.

"They entered the village because we made them active on August 17, the residents spontaneously pursued them to this campus," he said.
