JAKARTA - The Belitung Regency Government, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, has re-paved a 35-kilometer national road to facilitate transportation at the G20 Development Ministerial meeting in the area on September 7-9.

"We are re-paving the 35-kilometer national road to welcome the implementation of the G20," said Head of the National Road Implementation Unit (PJN) Region II of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Ferry Sutimarjaya in Tanjung Pandan, as quoted by Antara, Saturday.

According to him, the paving will be carried out starting from the H.AS Hanandjoeddin International Airport in Belitung to the Sheraton Hotel, which is the main venue for the G20 Development Ministerial meeting in Belitung.

"The road plan for the G20 activities from the airport to the Sheraton hotel along 35 kilometers of the 160 kilometers of national roads that we are handling is 80 percent re-paved," he said.

He said that other ongoing works are painting and road markings as well as pavement beautification.

"The condition of our road stability is currently 99.98 percent, so visually there are no obstacles for this G20 activity," he said.

He also targets that all of the work can be completed by the end of August, including the construction of a bridge in Terong Village, Sijuk District.

"Currently, at the Terong Village bridge, traffic (traffic) opening is being carried out because it is still in the form of aggregate coating, so wait for it to mature, later on August 30 everything will be finished on the asphalt," he said.
