Fisherman Who Was Adrift In The Sea Of Semau Island NTT Saved

KUPANG - The Class A Search and Rescue (SAR) Office of Kupang managed to rescue and evacuate two fishermen from Kupang City who were adrift in the middle of the sea due to a damaged boat engine.

Head of the Kupang Search and Rescue Office, I Putu Sudayana, said the location of the two fishermen was found in the vicinity of Semau Island.

"Thankfully they are safe and in good health," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 19.

The two fishermen have also been handed over to their families in Nunhila Village, Kupang City.

Based on the chronology of the incident, it is known that the two fishermen, Lodowi Tana Kore and Mone Hepe, have been at sea since 05.00 WITA.

While at sea the ketiting boat he was using had turned off the engine since 14.30 WITA. The panicked family just contacted the Kupang Class A Search and Rescue Office at 19.05 WITA.

After receiving the report, the team coordinated with collecting data, so that at 19.18 WITA the Kupang Basarnas Rescue team and crew using RIB 10 Kupang moved quickly to the location of the victim's estimated position to carry out a search.

The SAR team's efforts paid off, at 20:58 WITA or approximately six hours the boat's engine died, the SAR team managed to find both of them safe.
