Independence Party, Residents Make 77 Tumpeng In Moeldoko's Hometown

JAKARTA - The people of Pesing Village celebrated the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia with a party of 77 tumpeng. Pesing Village, located in Purwoasri Subdistrict, Kediri Regency, East Java, is the village where TNI General Retired Moeldoko was born. They celebrated Independence Anniversary by holding a joint meal on Wednesday 17 August.

According to Soejono, Moeldoko's older brother, since August 14 every day a number of community groups have come to visit the Moeldoko family's house. They expressed their aspirations to ask for Moeldoko's willingness to run in the 2024 presidential election contestation.

“I feel touched, so we welcome their arrival this afternoon by eating together. The people of Pesing gotong royong prepared 77 cones to make them as thanksgiving," said Soejono, according to a statement received by VOI on Wednesday, August 17.

Since Sunday, dozens of groups have come to the Moeldoko family's house. They come from market traders, artists, farmers, to breeders. They come from Kediri, Blitar, Tulungagung, to Malang.

According to Edi Junaidi, leader of the Pecutan Nusantara artist group, he came with members from Kediri, Blitar, and Tulungagung. “I heard that since Sunday, many people have come here to ask Mr. Moeldoko to become President. We artists don't want to be left behind. I know this Moeldoko as the Commander of the Farmers, who firmly protects the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
