Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Claims: Many Malaysian Tourists Go To Medan For Dental Treatment

MEDAN - Director of RSUD dr Pirngadi, Syamsul Arifin Nasution, SpOG, said that Malaysian tourists are now starting to seek dental treatment at clinics and hospitals in Medan City, North Sumatra, because they are cheaper.

"The information we get is that many Malaysian tourists go to Medan for dental treatment, because insurance in Malaysia is not covered. They are also interested in 'medical check-ups', because it is cheaper," said Syamsul in Medan, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 16.

This was conveyed in response to the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution launching medical tourism services (medical tourism) at the dr Pirngadi Hospital to coincide with the hospital's 94th anniversary in Medan, Monday (15/8).

His party explained that the executive services of medical tourism that Dr. Pirngadi Hospital excelled were ear, nose and throat (ENT) polyclinics and specialist dental polyclinics.

"What we are currently emphasizing is the ENT polyclinic, and the specialist dental poly. For the specialist dental poly, we have about ten specialist dentists," he said.

In the future, he continued, RSUD dr. Pirngadi belonging to the Medan City Government will also develop other polyclinics, such as special cardiac, stroke and oncology.

"So we will continue to improve. All polyclinics will have executive class, including replacing old medical devices with new medical devices," he said.

For information, the Management of the All-Indonesian Hospital Association of North Sumatra said that there were seven hospitals prepared to support the medical tourism program in the city of Medan.

The seven hospitals, namely H Adam Malik Hospital, Dr Pirngadi Hospital, Putri Hijau Hospital, Murni Teguh Hospital, Siloam Hospital, Columbia Asia Hospital and Royal Prima Hospital along with seven travel agencies.

"Medical tourism is an executive health service. This means that the services and rooms provided are better than usual, including medical personnel who must be able to speak English," said Syamsul.
