JAKARTA - A video clip shows running water coming from a roof that is suspected to be leaking at the ITC Roxy Mas Mall, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, August 16.

The video has been widely circulated on social media through posting to the Instagram account @recordjakarta.

"The roof on a mall floor in Gambir, Central Jakarta leaked on Tuesday (08/16/2022) afternoon," reads the post on @recordjakarta, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Via, one of the traders at ITC Roxy Mas Mall said the incident occurred at around 10.30 WIB.

"At 10.30 WIB. (Water) came out of it (pointed to the roof) near the escalator from the holes," said Via at ITC Roxy Mas Mall, Tuesday, August 16.

Via said that water was pouring from a roof on the second floor of the ITC Roxy Mas Mall. According to him, water came out of the roof and spilled onto the ground floor of the mall.

"Until the ground floor. People (the water) is big, it's getting bigger and bigger. I don't know where it came from, it looks like the water channel but I don't know either," he said.

Due to the leaking roof, said Via, ITC Roxy Mas Mall was temporarily closed and the electricity was turned off.

"(The mall) is closed immediately. So at 13.00 WIB, it will open again. The basement is also closed, if you don't have any interest, you can't enter because you wait for (water) to dry first, you're afraid someone will slip or something," said via.

Besides the mall being temporarily closed, the escalator right in the water flow was also briefly turned off by the mall manager.

"The escalator is turned off because it's the same time to go up the escalator. Earlier, some of the third-floor shops were also out of light," he said.

Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-Department, Asril Rizal, said his party had not yet received the incident. Asril also did not specify the exact location of the incident.

"There has been no report. As long as there is no report, we don't know," said Asril when contacted, Tuesday, August 16.

Because there was no report, Asril said his party had not dispatched personnel there.

"That's a mall, right, the mall has a manager, the manager will fix it later. It's not owned by the government. It's a private manager," he said.
