JAKARTA - The Presidential Secretariat (Setpes) is open to the general public who wish to attend the commemoration ceremony of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on August 17.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) Heru Budi Hartono said registration for the virtual ceremony through the www.pandang.istanapresiden.go.id page was closed on Tuesday, August 16, at 17.00 WIB.

"Those who register (physical ceremonies), we switch to virtual registration. So far there have been 55 thousand people," said Heru when met at the Dirty Rehearsal for the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Sunday, August 14.

Heru explained that virtual ceremonies can be an alternative for people who cannot physically attend the ceremony at the Merdeka Palace.

The Palace in 2022 held an open ceremony for the general public with a quota of 4,000 invitations which was divided into two sessions, namely the Commemoration Ceremony of the Proclamation of Seconds and the Lowering of the Red and White Flag Ceremony.

However, the physical ceremony invitation has reached its full quota since three days of registration opened.

"On the third day we open registration, it's 'full' and it's closed. It's no longer possible because there is no place. Those who register but can't, we switch to virtual registration," said Heru.

The Presidential Secretariat opens a quota for virtual invitations of up to 77 thousand participants. As of today, Sunday, August 14, the number of registered participants has reached 55 thousand people.

According to Heru, the virtual ceremony on the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia won an award from the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) for the implementation of the ceremony which was attended by the largest number of participants online.

The Palace is still holding a dirty rehearsal on Sundays to prepare for a series of activities to commemorate the Seconds of the Proclamation Commemorating the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

Unlike the last two years, members of the Pusaka Flag-raising Troop (Paskibraka) will be deployed in full according to the 17-8-45 formation.

On Monday 15 August, the Palace will hold a rehearsal to match the timing of the "fly pass" attraction by the Indonesian Air Force with the Seconds of the Proclamation at the Merdeka Palace.
