BENGKULU - A fire that occurred in a densely populated area on Jalan Jeruk, Lingkar Timur Village, Bengkulu City, caused 60 residents to lose their homes and needed clothing.

Although currently local residents have received assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food and basic necessities, the community also needs assistance in the form of proper clothing.

"The affected residents still need help in the form of clothing because none of the residents' belongings have been rescued," said Erwin Fachrudin, head of RT 05, Lingkar Timur Urban Village, Bengkulu City.

He said that currently 60 residents have fled to relatives' houses because their houses were burned down and none of them could be saved.

One of the victims of the fire, Nurhayati, explained that currently she and other residents are cleaning up the remnants of the fire and hope that there are still items that can be saved.

"Initially I thought it was smoke from residents burning garbage, but when I saw it came out the fire had grown and quickly spread to other residents' houses," he explained.

For the time being, the cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short in one of the residents' houses. The fire first emerged from one of the residents' houses which was empty and spread to the houses of residents in the vicinity of the location.

Currently in the vicinity of the police line has been installed by the police.
