JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno visited Perlang Tourism Village in Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung. Sandiaga appreciates the creativity of the community in utilizing the former tin mining excavations in his village into a tourist village.

"We have to make sure that post-mining or post-mining does not just leave a disaster. But if it is managed with wisdom, it will become a blessing," said Sandiaga in a press release, Friday, August 12.

Perlang Tourism Village is one of 50 selected tourist villages in the 2022 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) event.

This village is located in Lubuk Besar District, Central Bangka Regency. It is 73 kilometers from Depati Amir Airport, Pangkalpinang.

In the past, the village was known as a tin mining site that left a large hole.

This large hole then turned into a lake called Lake Pading. Besides Lake Pading, Perlang Tourism Village also has various other beautiful tourist destinations such as Pading Hill, Sadap Waterfall, and Gusung Perlang.

In addition, there is also a diversity of traditional and cultural arts such as the Sekapur betel dance, measles dance, and lion dance.

Sandiaga said, the success of the Perlang Tourism Village community in turning Pading Lake which is a former mining excavation into a tourist destination, means that they have succeeded in generating the economy, opening up business opportunities, and creating jobs for the local community.

"Lake Pading is the backbone of the Perlang Tourism Village and they can penetrate the top 50 best tourist villages (ADWI 2022)," he said.

Sandiaga encouraged the Perlang Tourism Village community to continue to explore the tourism potential and creative economy in the area.

"Therefore, people's incomes will also increase if we focus on quality and sustainable development and have an economic impact that is directly felt by the community," he said.
