Anies Doesn't Give Permit, 212 Reunion At Monas Is Postponed

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided not to allow FPI, GNPF Ulama, and PA 212 to hold a 212 Reunion in the National Monument (Monas) area.

FPI Chairperson Ahmad Sobri Lubis said, because the holding of the 212 Reunion at Monas was not allowed, his party decided to postpone the activity. With a note, pay attention to the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada.

"In connection with our request not being granted the use of Monas, the implementation of the 212 Reunion 2020 has been temporarily postponed by observing the 2020 simultaneous regional elections," said Sobri in a written statement, Tuesday, November 17.

Sobri said, the reason Monas was not allowed to be the place to organize this mass gathering was because he saw the uncontrolled development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For this reason, Sobri said that his party would observe the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada because there was a potential for violation of similar health protocols.

If the crowd in the pilkada campaign is left alone, Sobri won't lose. They will still hold the 212 Reunion. However, the location has not been confirmed.

"If the government has neglected the crowd in the 2020 Pilkada, then the 212 Reunion in 2020 will still be held at the right time," said Sobri.

Some time ago, Chairman of the 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA) Slamet Maarif said that his party was still waiting for a decision from the DKI Provincial Government regarding the decision to permit the use of Monas.

"We have sent it to Monas and the DKI Regional Government from 3 months ago. We have the receipt, we are just waiting for the DKI regional government's response," said Slamet on Wednesday, November 11.

Head of the Information Services Section for the National Monument Area Management Unit (UPK) Irfal Guci said that all levels of the DKI Provincial Government basically objected to the implementation of the 212 Reunion at Monas.

"Basically all SKPD object because they are in an atmosphere of COVID-19 like this. Because, if one activity is allowed, then all those who ask for other permits will definitely ask to be allowed," said Irfal.

But, said Irfal, UPK Monas and Bakesbangpol do not have the authority to issue the licensing decision. They only gave recommendations according to the results of the considerations in the meeting to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

"The final decision is up to the Governor. The recommendation goes to the Governor. It's up to the Governor to allow it or not. If possible, we are ready. If not allowed, even better," said Irfal.
