BOYOLALI - President Joko Widodo stated that the world is currently experiencing a food crisis. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are feeling hungry due to acute food shortages.

This was conveyed by Jokowi during a working visit to Boyolali, Central Java.

"Currently 300 million more people are in acute food shortages and hunger. In some countries it has started and it is estimated that if there is no solution, 800 million people will suffer from food shortages and hunger," Jokowi said in the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube show, Thursday, August 11th.

Because of that, Jokowi asked all parties to use productive land for planting various foodstuffs.

As in Boyolali, Jokowi ordered the Ministry of Agriculture to facilitate the planting of early coconuts to intercrops with a target of 46 thousand fruit. Jokowi also targets to plant 44 early early coconuts in Karanganyar and in Sukoharjo 110,000 early coconuts.

In fact, Jokowi is targeting the use of this previously unproductive land to be expanded to various regions in Indonesia, so that it can produce up to one million early pods.

"This has just started here. Later in the provinces where coconut can live well, we will plant it. The target is approximately one million mature coconuts. But not only coconut. There was corn, chili seeds were also divided," he explained. .

According to Jokowi, the planting of early maturing coconuts can produce 100 fruit each year. Early coconut fruit, according to him, can be produced in a variety of foodstuffs

"Coconut early, which will produce 2 years, two and a half years. In a year, one tree can produce 100 pieces. That one can be made of palm sugar, coconut oil can be made, which can also be sold for fresh drinks," said Jokowi.

For information, during this working visit, Jokowi was accompanied by the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo. At around 09.20 WIB, the delegation of the Head of State arrived at the location. Jokowi did not go directly to the point of the event but first greeted the residents of Giriroto Village. Practically the atmosphere became boisterous because people were scrambling to greet the president directly.

Not far from President Jokowi, Governor Ganjar Pranowo also greeted the residents who greeted him one by one. Ganjar accompanied Jokowi who distributed T-shirts to local residents.
