PBNU Appoints Gus Gudfan As Plt Bendum To Replace Mardani Maming Who Was Detained By KPK For Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board appointed H. Gudfan Arif Ghofur as the executor of the duties of the PBNU General Treasurer to replace Mardani Maming who was caught in a corruption case.

"Yes, that's right. It was decided unanimously at the daily meeting of Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah. He was Gus Gudfan during Pak Bendum Maming's inactivity, functioned as Acting General Treasurer of PBNU," said PBNU deputy head Nusron Wahid in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 10.

This decision was taken at the PBNU Syuriyah and Tangidziyah Daily Meeting in Yogyakarta today.

The meeting was attended by Rois Aam KH Miftachul Achyar and Deputy Rois Aam KH Afifudan Muhajir, Katib Aam KH Said Asrori, Chairman of PBNU KH Yahya, Cholil Staquf, Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf, Deputy Nusron Wahid and several other kyai and scholars.

Gudfan Arif is the son of KH Abdul Ghofur, the caretaker of Ponpes Sunan Drajat Lamongan.

Nusron believes that Gudfan, who has a business background, has the capability to become general treasurer.

"We believe he is capable. Apart from the santri and the son of the kyai, he is also a young entrepreneur engaged in the real sector, IT, oil and gas and mining. We believe he will be attractive and dynamic," he said.

Nusron Wahid also hopes that with the appointment of Gudfan, the polemic related to the corruption case involving Mardani Maming at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) can end soon.

"Hopefully this polemic issue will be resolved," he said.
