BENGKULU - Bengkulu Police Satreskrim arrested ST, a game creator from Seluma Regency, after extorting and threatening a female worker (TKW) from Malang who works in Hong Kong.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Bengkulu Police AKP Welliwanto Malau said the perpetrator ST (22) was arrested while in a house in Selebar District, Bengkulu City.

"We finally succeeded in arresting the perpetrator at the Puri Bandara Housing Complex, Selebar District, Bengkulu City at around 18.30 WIB," said Malau in Bengkulu City, Antara, Tuesday, August 9.

The chronology of the incident began when the victim DP (25) who was working in Hong Kong met the perpetrator through social media.

Then, the two had a special relationship and communicated with each other via cellphone, but during a video call, the perpetrator asked the victim to take off her upper garment and show it to the perpetrator.

According to him again, then the perpetrator recorded a video call that showed the upper part of the victim's body which was not covered without the victim's knowledge.

"Then the perpetrator began to blackmail and threaten the victim with threats to spread the video," he said.

The victim finally reported the incident to the International Relations Division of the Hong Kong Police Technical Staff and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia.

After the victim knew the location of the perpetrator who was in Bengkulu City, the victim appointed Puspa Erwan as the victim's attorney to report the incident to the Bengkulu Police.

Malau stated that after receiving the report, his party immediately coordinated and cooperated with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong.

Currently the perpetrator is at the Bengkulu Police Headquarters along with a number of evidences used to extort and threaten the victim, to undergo further examination.
