JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will not hold a New Year's Eve celebration in 2021. Usually New Year's Eve celebrations are centered in the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout area.

This decision was taken because of the uncontrolled condition of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Any activity that has the potential to create a crowd will be avoided.

"What is certain is that in the new year there will be no celebration of the previous year. There will be no mass mobilization, music concerts, cultural concerts, dances, songs, and so on. This year there will be no more," said Riza when contacted, Monday. , November 16th.

Riza said that her party will also prohibit the activities of celebrating fireworks which are usually carried out by the community. Because, it also has the potential to cause crowds and spread the corona virus.

However, Riza said that there is a possibility that there will be a celebration of the turn of 2020 towards 2021 in a different way. What is clear is that the celebration did not invite residents to gather. However, the format is still maturing.

"In this new year, we are looking for a good format, especially there are no crowds. We will carry out the method according to the COVID-19 protocol," he explained.
