Epidemiologist Of Anies' Values Choose Love To Uphold The PSBB Rules

JAKARTA - An epidemiologist from the University of Indonesia, Syahrizal Syarif, views the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan as favoritism in cracking down on the crowd from an activity organized by the leader of FPI, Muhammad Rizieq Shihab.

This is because in taking action against this crowd, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has limited to sanctioning an administrative fine of IDR 50 million when the event is over.

"The crowd that happened, whether it was the pick-up, or the Prophet's birthday, I saw that the DKI provincial government was indecisive. It was like that," Syarif said when contacted by VOI, Monday, November 16.

If the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government enforces the PSBB rules, then the activity that Rizieq held in the Petamburan area, Central Jakarta will be disbanded when the crowd has occurred.

Moreover, so far the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has often conducted inspections to dismiss people in a number of business places who have been found to have violated health protocols.

In addition, a number of offices will also be temporarily closed if proven not to limit the capacity of workers.

"So far, the DKI Provincial Government seems to be strict with health protocols. There are those who make marriages, dissolve them, there are protocol violations in offices that continue to be closed, restaurants do not keep their distance closed. But yesterday was not strict," said Syarif.

"Cook has happened, just did something. It's useless. It should be anticipated beforehand. It is clear, health protocols forbid crowding. It should be disbanded if there is a crowd," he added.

Furthermore, according to Syarif, imposing sanctions on violators of health protocols does not necessarily deter the public and immediately avoid the crowd.

"People make crowd activities, there are consequences for the fine, yes it is true. But, that is not necessarily a deterrent effect," he said.

From the crowd cases that Rizieq and his followers have repeatedly carried out, it shows that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is not handling COVID-19 strictly and does not provide education to prevent the return of the crowd.

"If it does make education, then the implementation is firm. The crowd that occurs, whether it is the pick-up, or the Prophet's birthday, I see that the DKI Provincial Government is indecisive," concluded Syarif.
