Inspector General Ferdy Sambo Allegedly Took CCTV From The Shooting Scene Of Brigadier J, This Is What Mahfud MD Said

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that the alleged taking of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera decorders by the former Head of the Professional and Security Division of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Ferdy Sambo, could be criminalized.

"You can go both ways. Formal law is a crystallization of morals and ethics, so taking CCTV can violate ethics because it is not careful or unprofessional and at the same time can be a criminal violation due to obstruction of justice and others," he told reporters, Sunday, August 7.

Mahfud reiterated that the alleged violation of ethics committed by Inspector General Sambo could go hand in hand with criminal allegations if proven guilty.

Because, continued Mahfud, ethical sanctions are not decided by the panel of judges. So that ethical violations can be dealt with together with a criminal.

"Yes, because ethical sanctions are not decided by judges and are not criminal penalties but administrative sanctions such as dismissal, demotion, reprimand, etc. While criminal justice is decided by judges whose punishment is criminal sanctions such as imprisonment, death penalty, seizure of property proceeds of crime, and so on," he said.

Previously reported, Mahfud MD emphasized that the process of alleged ethical and criminal violations could go hand in hand.

This affirmation was conveyed regarding the handling of alleged violations of the code of ethics of former Head of the Propam Division Inspector General Ferdy Sambo in handling the murder case of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.

"According to the law, ethical violations and criminal violations can go together, they don't have to wait for each other and cannot cancel each other out. That is, if someone is sentenced to ethical sanctions, it does not mean that his criminal allegations are ruled out. Ethical violations are processed, criminal violations are processed equally," said Mahfud MD in his Instagram account @mohmahfudmd quoted on Sunday, August 7th.

This was conveyed by Mahfud regarding the news that Inspector General Ferdy Sambo had been brought to the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters in Depok on Saturday, August 6.

Moments later, the National Police Headquarters held a press conference regarding Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

For your information, the shooting took place at the official house of the former Head of the National Police Propam Division, Inspector General of Police Ferdy Sambo on Friday, July 8. In this incident, Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat died from receiving a gunshot wound.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was suspected of being unprofessional in handling the case of Brigadier J's murder, such as destroying or eliminating CCTV.

"I mentioned earlier, in the implementation of the TKP, as the National Police Chief said that CCTV was taken and so on," said Inspector General Dedi.

The decision behind Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was declared unprofessional based on the results of the investigation by the Special Inspectorate (Irsus) of the National Police. There are 10 witnesses who have been questioned.

"Irsus determined that Inspector General FS was suspected of committing a violation related to the problem of unprofessionalism in processing the crime scene, therefore tonight the person concerned was immediately placed in a special place at the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters," said Inspector General Dedi.
