ACEH - The Banda Aceh National SAR Agency (Basarnas) team evacuated a Chinese citizen who was also a crew member of a Panamanian-flagged cargo ship due to a work accident.

Head of the Banda Aceh National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said the Chinese citizen who was evacuated was on behalf of Rei Wencay, a 39-year-old male.

"The Chinese national is a crew member of a cargo ship with the name MV Lin Hai 6. The person concerned was evacuated due to a laceration to his stomach," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain in Banda Aceh, Antara, Thursday, August 4.

Ibnu Harris said the MV Lin Hai 6 sailed from Singapore to Angola, Africa. During the voyage, the victim suffered an injury to his stomach while repairing cleaning equipment.

"The request for evacuation was submitted by the captain of MV Lin Hai 6. The evacuation took place on Thursday using the SAR ship KN Kresna 232," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.

The evacuation point is in the waters of the Bengal Strait, between Rice Island, Aceh Besar Regency and Weh Island, Sabang City. The evacuation point is 7.46 nautical miles or nautical miles from Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh City.

After undergoing an antigen swab examination to prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19 and being declared negative, the victim was transferred to KN Kresna 232.

Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said the evacuation process involved the Malahayati Port Health Office (KKP), Customs, police, Navy, Syahbandar Ulee Lheue officers, immigration, and other relevant agencies.

"Arriving at Ulee Lheue Port, the victim was evacuated to Zainoel Abidin Hospital Banda Aceh using an ambulance for further medical treatment. With the evacuation of the Chinese citizen, the SAR operation was closed," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.
