Muhammadiyah Asks The Government To Dare To Order Events Held By Rizieq Shihab

JAKARTA - General Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu'ti asked government officials to have the courage to curb the crowd of supporters of the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab. Especially at this time of the COVID-18 pandemic, all events that do not comply with health protocols, including events held by FPI leaders, must be put in order.

"Government officials, especially the COVID-19 Task Force, should have the courage to reprimand and curb all events that do not comply with (health, red) protocols including the Habib Rizieq Shihab event," Mu'ti told reporters, Saturday, November 14.

He said, all parties without exception, should comply with health protocols to prevent transmission of COVID-19. Starting from educational activities, offices, religious activities and activities that gather the masses, we must follow this recommendation in the midst of a pandemic.

He also reminded that Rizieq should be wiser and be able to set an example for other parties to comply with health protocols.

"As the leader of the ummah, Habib Rizieq should set an example so that in every activity it complies with the COVID-19 protocol and invites FPI members and the masses to become good citizens," he said.

Previously, Rizieq Shihab arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday, November 10. At that time he was greeted by a crowd of supporters at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and around Petamburan, Central Jakarta.

Upon arrival, he did not carry out self-quarantine. He even met a number of political figures including DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to high-ranking Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) officials.

Not only that, Rizieq is also noted to be carrying out a number of activities including holding the Prophet's birthday and the marriage of his daughter, Najwa Shihab, which is planned to be attended by 10,000 invited guests at his residence.

Regarding this activity, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked all parties to implement health protocols and implement 3M, namely wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining distance.

"We ask all activities so that whatever the activity is, wherever we ask for all activities, the organizers carry out the COVID-19 protocol, health protocol and implement 3M, namely wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance," said Riza as quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 14th.

Riza hopes that the organizer, Rizieq and his family, will prepare officers to ensure that the events being held do not cause crowds and are assisted by the authorities.

"Later, of course, it needs attention and support from the supervision and monitoring of PSBB (large-scale social restrictions) to help regulate traffic, regulate distance and so on, facilities and infrastructure must be prepared such as thermo gun, hand sanitizer, hand washing place and so on. , "he said.
