JAMBI - Members of the Merangin Resort Police conducted an investigation into the death of a junior high school student in Masurai Valley, Merangin Regency, Jambi, Wednesday.

"The perpetrator has been entrusted to the Merangin Police, because we are still minors, we are handling it at the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA)," said Merangin Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Commissioner Adjutant Indar Wahyu Dwi Setiawan as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 3.

A junior high school student in Masuran Merangin named IR (13) died after allegedly getting stabbed by his classmate J (14).

Based on information compiled by the police, the alleged perpetrator is a transfer student from Bengkulu.

The perpetrators have now been detained by the Merangin Police with special handling for suspected minors.

The victim was found to have died at around 14.00 western Indonesia time, after being taken to Colonel Abunjani Bangko Hospital, Merangin Jambi.

Meanwhile, one of the extracurricular members, Yuda Pitrade, accompanied the victim to the hospital. The suspect is believed to be a friend who is still a minor.

"They have been detained by the police," he said.

However, Yurani did not know the details of the incident, because she was out of school.

"I don't know what happened, when it happened I was not at school, when I came back to school I saw that the students were panicking. Some said someone had been stabbed, after that I immediately took the motorbike to the clinic," he explained.

The student suspected of being the perpetrator was immediately taken to the Masurai Police, to be further handled by the Merangin Police PPA Unit, of course with special assistance because he was still a minor.
