JAKARTA - Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin said that the central government cooperates with local governments (Pemda) and the private sector in poverty eradication programs.

The Vice President conveyed this in a press statement after chairing a plenary meeting to accelerate the elimination of extreme poverty as the implementation of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 4 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty.

"I think our budget for handling (poverty) is quite large, as much as (around) IDR 431 trillion, so it has been adjusted, not to mention there is a budget from the APBD," the vice president added.

Currently the government, according to the Vice President, is integrating data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the family center data belonging to the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) and SDGS data (Sustainable Development Goals). / Sustainable Development Goals) Village from the Ministry of Villages.

"Validation has been carried out by integrating this data, while it is hoped that it will be completed and later if there are still leftovers, in terms of those that have not, we will follow up again," he said.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the government had provided a special budget for poverty alleviation.

"We reported that the state budget related to empowerment programs was around Rp. 95 trillion. Previously, social protection was above Rp. 400 (trillion) but we also still have the PEN (National Economic Recovery) program which is above Rp. 600 (trillion)," said Airlangga.

Meanwhile, the APBD also provides a special budget for alleviating extreme poverty of up to IDR 49.93 trillion.

"Where the provincial government is Rp. 18.5 trillion and the district government is about Rp. 30 trillion," he added.

He also emphasized that the government encourages the involvement of the private sector in the form of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

"So there will be cooperation between SOEs and the private sector in the form of CSR with the obligation to make empowerment efforts with their CSR with a radius of 5 kilometers around their economic area so that it will accelerate extreme poverty management programs," he said.

The Coordinating Minister also revealed that the poverty rate in Indonesia currently reaches 9.54 percent of the total population.

"Then extreme poverty in 2021 will be 2.14 percent and in March 2022 it will decrease to 2.04 percent so the number of people is around 5.59 million people. With the programs carried out and social protection (social protection) there have been such improvements," said Airlangga Hartarto.

Presidential Instruction No. 4 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty was stipulated on 8 June 2022.
