JAKARTA – Responding to the rampant brawls between students in Central Jakarta, the Central Jakarta Education Sub-Department cooperates with the police to prevent it by means of joint patrols.

Head of Central Jakarta Education Sub-Department II, Uripasih, said that his party will continue to patrol with schools and the police to prevent student brawls that often occur.

"In anticipation, we also communicate with the police and teachers who are on duty to patrol areas prone to brawls," said Uripasih when confirmed, Tuesday, August 2.

Uripasih also said that student brawls occurred during school hours or after school hours.

In addition, he said, when the students came home from school the responsibility was no longer the responsibility of the school.

"Usually, student brawls occur when they come home from school, in the afternoon," he said.

Uripasih admitted that he will continue to coordinate with related parties so that brawls between students, which often result in fatalities, do not happen again.

Not only that, Uripasih also appealed to parents to pay attention to their children when they came home from school to keep studying and doing activities at home.

Previously, it was reported that a brawl between school students occurred in front of the Yon Bekang dormitory, Jalan Letjend Suprapto, Bungur Village, Central Jakarta.

A student with the initials NR (17) suffered a laceration from a sharp weapon in his hand. NR was hacked by a sharp weapon by the opposing group during a brawl. As a result of the sharp weapon, the victim's hand was almost severed.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Senen Police, AKP Ganang Agung, said that his party had arrested four students involved in the brawl.

"We have secured EH (16), OR (16), AA (16) and YD (16). All of the students are grade 2 high school students," said AKP Ganang when confirmed, Saturday, July 30.
