East Java Governor: Potential Designers From NU Must Develop

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa wants the potential as a designer from the Nahdlatul Ulama to continue to develop so that it can be useful for the community.

"This is proof that NU has now made many innovations in various sectors, even in the fashion world," he said in Surabaya as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 29.

Khofifah appreciated the fashion event titled "Tupal Fashion Night" which was held in the framework of NU's 1st Century "Kick Off" at the Heroes Monument Surabaya on Thursday (28/7) night.

At this moment, a number of models appeared in a fashion show by designer Ning Ficky Aisya, who is the wife of Ra Nasih from the Syaichona Cholil Islamic Boarding School Bangkalan, as well as another NU resident, Listya Ayu Qudus.

In addition to professional models, Muslim dresses by the two designers were also exhibited by Gawagis and Nawaning, including Gus Haris and Ning Marisa (Ponpes Zainul Hasan Genggong Probolinggo), Gus Ahmad and Ning Sheila (Ponpes Lirboyo Kediri), Lora Nasikh and Ning Vikcy (Ponpes Lirboyo Kediri). Meanwhile, NU's 1st Century "Kick Off" activity is expected to be an important momentum for the organization to continue to develop to become more modern.

"We hope that NU can continue to grow and the East Java Provincial Government together with NU will continue to play a role in improving the welfare of the community," said Governor Khofifah.

Besides fashion, there were also Pagar Nusa attractions, Barongsay Temple Boen Bio, Surabaya Polrestabes choir, Qori' from Kodam V/Brawijaya, and 100 Millennial Ishari SMA-SMAK Sunan Kalijogo Malang.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the NU 1 Century "Kick Off" Committee who is also the Deputy Chair of the East Java PWNU KH Abdussalam Sochib said that NU's 100-year journey is a sign of a change in civilization.

For this reason, he said, PWNU carries a narrative from pesantren for civilization and world peace.

"We took the theme of harmony, collaboration, innovation. With harmony, the stability of the country is maintained and the people are calm in carrying out religious rituals," he said.
