Said Sandiaga, Indonesian Start Ups Are High In Quantity And Quality

JAKARTA - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno praised the development of Start Ups in Indonesia. Not only increased in quantity, but also increased in quality.

According to him, in 2022 there will be 210 million active internet users and 191 million social media users. The internet penetration rate in Indonesia is 77 percent and the number of Indonesian start-ups is fifth in the world.

In 2022, there were 2,346 startups recorded for startups. There are 10 startups in Indonesia that are unicorns and two are decacorns.

"This shows that Indonesian start-ups are not only high in quantity but also increasing in quality," said Sandiaga, Friday, July 29.

Speaking at the BSI DiginoFest 2022 event, Sandiaga said this event must be able to create a breakthrough to provide opportunities to create social justice and digital social justice for all Indonesian people.

"I want to invite all of us to continue to innovate and adapt, collaborating with the 3G spirit, namely Garcep (Fast Movement), Geber (Joint Movement), Gaspol (Potential Spirit Movement)," said Sandi.

"BSI University must create an ecosystem so that all of us can create equitable development development. We must adjust government policies to be more in favor of the economic condition of the people whose standard of living has not been raised, we must raise the standard of living of the people, wide job opportunities," he explained.

Sandiaga also invited the participants to build a spirit of entrepreneurship in order to create job vacancies. According to him, Indonesia is facing the threat of an economic crisis, rising prices of basic commodities, a food and energy crisis, and now it is difficult to find work due to the increasing number of unemployed.

“I have a personal experience where I was laid off before, then changed the mindset from an employee to an entrepreneur. The first thing that is most difficult is taking the risk of being hit by a crisis. Alhamdulilaj, who initially opened only three businesses, is now opening a national business and opening job vacancies for 30 thousand employees," he said.
